Sonic hedgehog mutations in holoprosencephaly
Colored MRI scan of a human brain with holoprosencephaly (HPE). In this congenital condition, a fluid-filled ventricle (red) develops where the forebrain would normally be. Temporal disruption of sonic hedgehog homolog leads to a spectrum of HPE phenotypes (page 485).
